The 40th annual edition of Tucson’s running 10k & 5k fiesta winds its way through Starr Pass in the foothills of the Tucson Mountains. Run or walk the gorgeous course with beautiful mountain scenery and great views of the Tucson basin.  Afterwards, join us for a Cinco de Mayo Celebration featuring the Cholla High School mariachi band.

The Cinco de Mayo 10 K event is part of The Running Shop SAR Grand Prix series.

Important Race Weekend Info

Packet Pick-up & In-Person Registration:

►Friday May 1 from 2:00pm-6:00pm at Fleet Feet Sports located at 7607 N. Oracle Rd #121, Oro Valley AZ 85704
►Saturday May 2 from 10:00am-3:00pm at Fleet Feet Sports located at 7301 E. Tanque Verde Road, Tucson AZ 85715
►Sunday May 3 (Race Day) from 5:30-6:15am at Cholla High School. All races start and finish at Cholla High School.

Yes, you can still register race morning! Note that the race has grew by an unexpected amount this year, so there is a chance that race weekend new registrants might have to wait to receive their medal and shirt until a few weeks after the race.

Important: If you decide to switch between the 5k and 10k or switch between the 10k walk and 10k run, you must let the race director know. If you switch events after Saturday packet pick-up, please visit the timing booth race morning to let the timer know.

 

New This Year 

Finisher Medals for 10k and 5k finishers medals guaranteed on race day  to first 900 registrants. The race has grew by an unexpected amount this year, so there is a chance that race weekend registrants might have to wait to receive there medal and shirt a few weeks after the race.

RRCA 10k State Championship

Additional Race Beneficiary: La Frontera's La Paloma Family Services. Proceeds from the race will be directed to help cover costs for foster kids to participate in sports, camps, music, art and other activities!

Plus we are bring back:

Family Fiesta: Sombrero kids dash (for kids of all ages), jumping castle, pinatas, water balloon toss and more!

FitKidz Race: Free 1 Mile race for kids under 12.  

Team Competition:  Team competition is open to the 5k and 10k!  The team with the most participants as of Thursday, May 2nd will be awarded with a party package to Tap & Bottle/Westbound.

Details:  Teams must be comprised of 5 or more people.   Must be 21 years of age or older to win alcohol.  

FREE Event T-shirt for all participants!  Shirt sizes are first come first serve!

Post-Race Breakfast Burritos from El Saguarito Mexican Food, plus fruit and cookies

Individual awards will be given to the following in both the 10K and 5K:

►Top 3 Overall Finishers (Male and Female)
►Top 1 Masters Finisher (Male and Female)
►Top 3 in each 5-Year Age Group (Male and Female)
►The following Age Groups will be awarded 19 and under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+

Race Distances and Courses

USAT&F Certified 10K (AZ-95003-FC) and 5K (AZ15017JOE)

The paved, USATF Certified 10K out and back road course features rolling hills winding through the Starr Pass Resort in the foothills of the Tucson Mountains. The course ends with a 2-mile downhill before finishing in front of Cholla High School. There are 3 water stations (at the 1 mile, 3 mile and 5 mile)

The paved, USATF Certified 5K is a loop course with rolling hills.  It starts at the intersection of Starr Pass Blvd and Cholla Blvd. and winds its way through the Tucson Park West III neighborhood.  The course finishes with a 1-mile downhill.  There is 1 water station along the course around mile 2.

Baby strollers are welcome on the course.  We ask that strollers position themselves at the back of the start and use caution not to block or impede other participants on the course.

Dogs are not permitted on the course.
