It’ll Be Hot on Race Night
Randy Accetta June 1, 2012We at the Meet Me Downtown run thank the 1552 pre-registered runners and walkers—this is more than last year, so we expect quite the crowd Saturday night! Please remember that it will be hot on race night. Here are a couple of tips to managing the heat:
• Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing and drink plenty of water. This is a fun night, so remember to walk if the heat is too much. There are two water stations on the course with plenty of water on hand, so please be sure to drink!
• Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Some common symptoms of heatstroke can include rapid pulse, difficulty breathing, high body temperature, lack of sweat, dizziness, confusion and seizures. If someone is suffering from heatstroke, seek one of the 9 (nine) Tucson Police officers out on the course or call 911. Rural Metro/Southwest Ambulance will have a crew on hand at the finish line, so please seek help if you need it!
