Places to Run

  • Catalina State Park

On Tucson’s NW side at the base of the Catalina Mountains, Catalina State Park offers fairly flat road running and some fantastic trail options.

  • Old Spanish Trail

This 5 mile eastside multi-use path snakes its way from Broadway to Saguaro National Park East.

  • Reid Park

Centrally located park with a lighted, 3-mile multi-use path and a popular 800 meter (half mile) dirt track.

  • Sabino Canyon

One of Arizona’s most scenic running spots, Sabino Canyon offers both road and trail running options.

  • Saguaro National Park East

This is the site of SAR’s big Labor Day 8 Mile Run. Winding through a forest of saguaros, this 8 mile rollercoaster (lots o’ hills!) loop is not to be missed. Many great trail options as well.

  • The Loop

The Loop is a system of paved, shared-use paths connecting the Rillito, Santa Cruz, and Pantano River Parks with the Julian Wash and Harrison Road Greenways.

  • Tumamoc Hill

If you’re looking for a great place to train for hills or just like a good challenge, check out the 3-mile up-and-back paved road on Tumamoc Hill.
